I’m Dr K Sivaprasad
Prof. Dr. Sivaprasad K has been appointed as an Independent Director on the Board of
BHEL w.e.f. 09-11-2021 is a Bachelor of Technology graduate in Naval Architecture and
Ship Building from Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi. He completed his postgraduate degree, MSc in Ship Production from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK under British Commonwealth Scholarship. Dr. Sivaprasad took his PhD doctoral degree from Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi Dr. Sivaprasad K possesses a diverse and wide-ranging experience in the areas of Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding, Maritime Technology, Engineering for Sustainable Development, Inland Waterway Transport, Green Technology, Teaching and Training in Engineering and Technology and Academic Research

As Consultant, Dr, Sivaprasad K has served Department of Ports, Government of Kerala,
Maritime Development Board, Kerala, Kerala Tourism Development Corporation,
Department of Forest, Government of Kerala and Department of Water Transport,
Government of Kerala. Dr K Sivaprasad had been a member of Executive Council and Court of Indian Maritime University, Central University as the nominee of the Visitor. Presently Dr. Sivaprasad K is a member of the Research Board of Indian Maritime University. He is a member of Bureau of Indian Standards. He is an Expert Committee Member of Defense Research and Development Organisation, (DRDO) Government of India. Dr. Sivaprasad K represents academia in the India Technical Committee of ClassNK, Japanese Ship Classification Society. Dr, Sivaprasad K is member of the Board of Studies of Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala. Presently, he is a Professor in Department of Ship Technology, Cochin University of Science

Department of ship technology is one of the pioneering institutions in India in naval architecture and ship building. The department which was established in the university of cochin in 1974 has gone through many academic as well as administrative challenges in the past 50 years to reach up to status of the flagship programme in cochin university of science and technology. The department had many reputed industrial and academic leaders at the helm at various stages of its fifty years of successful journey towards excellence. The naval architecture graduates who are spread over the world. The department have proved that they area second to none in the industry naval architecture teaching, training and research and in maritime administration.
